Animal
The American Veterinary Chiropractic Association (AVCA) was formed in 1989 by a group of Veterinary and Chiropractic doctors. The AVCA has established an in-depth curriculum combining research and practice from both fields; the AVCA teaches and promotes high standards of animal healthcare.
A doctor who has been trained and obtained an AVCA certification is equipped to evaluate and treat:
- Neck, back, leg and tail pain
- Muscle spasms
- Nerve problems
- Disc problems
- Joint problems resulting in limping, problems standing, problems jumping, or TMJ problems including difficulty chewing
- Event or sports injuries
- Post surgical care
- Bowl/bladder and internal medicine disorders
If your animal has:
- Had problems getting up or down
- Competed in athletic events
- Been anesthetized for surgery
- Experienced any reoccurring conditions such as vomiting, respiratory or urinary infections, diarrhea or constipation
- Had seizures or neurological problems
- Reached seven years of age (human years)
- Gone longer than a year without a chiropractic evaluation
- Had behavior or mood changes
When your companion is not moving like he or she used to, when they are not playing as they once did, they should be brought in for evaluation and treatment. Chiropractic care is advocated not just for humans but also for horses, dogs, cats, and birds, etc.
